We attended the UK Trade & Industry (UKTI) seminar last week. This was helping comapnies import/ export.

The seminar was poor in places but had some good topics. For us there were potentially somee new forms of funding available. Key things fro us incluided:

1. Fund or helping companies who are technology spin outs from Universities funded by Finance South East. This type of activity is on of our target markets.

2. We export and every time we gain a client we also help them import to the UK as we set up their business in the UK.

3. We need to partner with UKTI so that our market entry model - which is a hybrid compromise between setting up your own operation and setting up distributors - the sales outsourced solution - should be something they know about and alert their clients to the possibilities of.

Every body is familiar with the phenomenon that is Facebook as well as many of the literally hundreds of other social networking sites such as MySpace, Flickr, Bebo and recently receiving a lot of attention is Twitter. In the ‘professional' or business world other networks such as LinkedIn and ecademy are also becoming prominent.

Interestingly these social sites whilst providing communication and amusement for the 11,000,000 (2007) UK members and 200m worldwide. They have also become important business tools. You may think these work only for B2C companies, but it turns out that they are also useful for B2B companies, selling almost any type of product.
